I've searched high and low for a decaf, peach, iced tea. When I found this tea and read the reviews, I thought I'd found what I was looking for! Unfortunately, I haven't. The tea is well packaged and one bag makes exactly the amount it says it will, so there's that. Here's the problem; when I open the container of other, peach, caffeinated iced teas (or any tea for that matter) I am smacked in the face with the delicious smell of PEACH or BERGAMOT or whatever the main feature of that particular tea happens to be. When I opened the box of Bigelow Perfect Peach, I was smacked in the face with the smell of ROSEHIPS and HIBISCUS whaaaaa? To be fair, I abhor hibiscus in tea. . . rose hips aren't much better, but, in spite of an overwhelming olfactory sign that this tea was not, in any way, shape or form, going to live up to the moniker of "Perfect Peach" I pressed forward.I brewed it perfectly, I set a timer for exactly 15 minutes, I pulled the bag out just as the timer went off, I added water, I chilled, I poured over ice and then I kicked back and took a long sip of . . . .perfectly putrid hibiscus iced tea. Not surprising since a) hibiscus, even in small amounts, ANNOUNCES it's presence, no shrinking violet is our hibiscus, and b) Hibiscus is the second ingredient in this "Perfect Peach" iced tea (with rose hips being the first), while our supposed main character (peach) comes in third.
Let me be clear, the peach in this tea? Is an aftertaste. I don't care if Bigelow calls it their "Pungent Pine" iced tea, calling it such don't make it so. This tea, once brewed, tastes and looks more like Tazo's passion tea (you know, the pink iced one you can get at Starbucks) than it does like any peach thing ever. If you want a solid decaffeinated hibiscus and rose hip iced tea with deeply buried undertones of peach, buy this tea. If you're looking for an actual decaf peach iced tea, then keep searching, and if you find it before I do, be a sport and point me in the right direction.
