I originally got this tea as a gift. I normally drink green tea, but when I tried this tea, I fell in love with it. Excellently blended; some nice overtones of Chinese tea that I grew up with. There's no bitterness to this tea, too. A fellow tea lover spent a couple of nights at our house and loved it so much that I ran out, so ordered more.

Steven Smith, the teamaker, has impeccable taste! He's know among the tea masters for his blends. He was a co-founder of Stash Teas, then when it sold, started Tazo teas. After Tazo was sold he took a sabbatical in France, but came back to Portland OR and started Steven Smith Teamaker.

Ahmad Tea 454g Loose Barooti Tea, 16-Ounce Box (Pack of 4) Review

There is a lot of indifferent quality tea out there, and as a sometimes fan of Asian Green, White, and Oolong teas, I should have considered that before I decided that I didn't much like Assam ("English Breakfast Tea"), except as one ingredient in that heady, spicy tea blend called Chai.

Okay, I'm wrong. I just don't like "meh" teas, and even the expensive stuff sold in bookstores and "gourmet" stores can be pretty meh. I take it that Ahmad Barooti Assam tea doesn't exactly position itself as an ultra-premium blend, and it does tastes pretty much like what any other English Breakfast or even Lipton Yellow Box tastes like -- only much, much sweeter and richer, with a depth of flavor unfamiliar to many of us in the U.S. who would hardly recognize something as tea if it doesn't come in a paper pocket with a tag stapled to it.

For newbies to loose tea: use an infuser. Those tiny ones you have to pack to get any in there are of no use; tight packed tea resists water infusion. Some pots have a ceramic infuser, or you could just live with a few leaves in the bottom of your cup -- they won't hurt you a bit. I'm happy steeping this tea at a ratio of 2 tspns (3-4 grams) per pot, with my pot holding about 2.5 cups of water.

As a side note, I'm also fascinated by all the translations to Arabic, Cyrillic (Russian) and what all on the box. I know that this might reflect a bit of snobbery towards my own country, but I take it as a good endorsement when a tea product is loved in many nations, including the top tea-consuming ones. (U.S.A. is more of a coffee country, although I'd say we are not picky enough about our coffee, either -- but that's another conversation.)

Brook Bond (an Indian favorite) was my previous, and perfectly acceptable choice for Chai blending, but now I have (temporarily) set aside my spices and am enjoying Ahmad Barooti on it's own, or chilled with a splash of ginger syrup. (Don't know where to refer you to get that; I make mine by whirring chopped ginger root in a blender with water and sugar. It keeps fresh tasting for a long time, too, in the fridge.)

Nice, nice stuff. Buy loose tea. Shop around. And look for recommendations over trusting a fancy container or a fancy price.

Years ago I dated a guy from England, very picky about his tea to say the least. I was introduced to the proper way to brew tea and where to find quality tea locally, I also discovered, at this little shop, a strawberry tea that was heavenly. I have since then moved to another state, and eventually married a different guy, but I had been unable to find that same tea blend with just the right strawberry flavor and aroma, until now. I am so glad I ran across this tea here at Amazon. I also purchased the Peach Passion Oolong Tea for my husband and I must say that is a lovely tea also. Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) tea is the best tea in the world! If you can't get the pure, unlabelled tea leaves, plucked off the cool hills of up country Sri Lanka, this the next best thing. I usually get my tea directly from SL but when I run out I have to fall back on Dilmah...and having moved here from Australia (where the tea is widely available), I'm very happy that Dilmah is finally available in the US.

I've been drinking Dilmah Premium for a long time now and love it but lately wanted to widen my horizon; With that in mind, I tried the Dilmah Supreme and Dilmah English Breakfast. Dilmah Supreme rated an average on my scale but ah, the English Breakfast! If you wish to have an extra special cup of tea, bold and rich in flavour with subtle nuances, then the English Breakfast is definitely your cup of tea! While more expensive than the Dilmah Premium, it is well worth the price! Enjoy...:)

This coffee has an extremely rich taste without the bitterness that some darker roasts exhibit. Beans have a nice color and sheen from the roasting process. On a side note, due to the oily nature of these beans, my burr grinder requires a little more attention for cleanup to keep the beans flowing.

Well packaged, with full ingredients list included, in a very nice screw-top acrylic jar (clear body & white lid).
Speedy delivery. Successfully combined shipment of three jars of different sprinkle color combos.

Measurements & other physical info of the actual "sprinkles" =
with the mouse face lying with it's back on the counter's surface, the chin is situated in the lowest most position & the ears are on upper left & upper right of face, as you look down at it =
width "across the widest part / ears" = 5/16 inch (a bit wider than 1/4 inch)
from top of ears to bottom of chin = 1/4 inch
their thicknesses varied = from 1/16 inch to 1/8 inch or so ...

In the 3 different color combo containers I received, I would say that a few sprinkles were a bit thicker than 1/8 inch, and hardly any were thinner than 1/16 inch thick.
The backs of the sprinkles are sort-of "flat", but the tops are more rounded = giving them an almost 3D appearance. =)

They smelled very fresh & sweet. =)
They were crunchy, crisp & very tasty to eat!
They are very cute on their own & even more adorable on cupcakes/cakes! =)!
